The invention proposes a reliable system for resolving network addresses into physical addresses which can be applied to local area telematic networks in order to avoid the vulnerability currently experienced by the ARP protocol (RFC826) due to cache poisoning. Unlike the existing technical solutions to this problem, the resolution is centralized and is based on a service which acts as a trusted third party thanks to the use of a public key infrastructure which makes it possible to digitally sign the resolution messages in order to ensure the authenticity and integrity thereof.
