The invention provides an additive for cementitious compositions and/or dust suppression compositions, said additive including at least plant extract selected from the group including short chain carbohydrates, long chain carbohydrates, oils, gums, salts thereof, and mixtures thereof, and a surface active ingredient. The invention extends to a method of preparing an additive for use in cemetitious compositions and/or dust suppression compositions, said method including the step of emulsifying a plant extract and a surface active ingredient, including heat treating the plant extract at a temperature of from 50°C to 350°C maintained for a period of from 0.1 hours prior to emulsification with the surface active ingredient. |
