WORKING SET FOR COLD FORMING MACHINE AND COLD FORMING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To mass-produce the pointed portion of a metallic part economically.

SOLUTION: The working set comprises units of die 31 having a cavity for a workpiece 15 and a tool 33 and the die 31 slides a limited distance along its axial center and biased by the spring force caused by the other unit 33 when two units are mounted to the forming machine and each unit has an end face having smooth surface finish which is pressed against the smooth surface finish of the end face of the other unit. Because the end face area of one unit is relatively small as compared to its principal cross section, a high contact pressure between the end faces of the two units is obtained to the prescribed spring. The leakage from the cavity across the end face during hydrostatic trap extrusion of extruding/cooling oil which is applied to the workpiece in the cavity is suppressed and the workpiece is formed to a degree beyond a conventional limit.
