PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system and control method, which performs communications between each communication unit and a roadside unit even if a plurality of mobile objects each having a communication unit, exist within a communication available area of the roadside unit. SOLUTION: The communication system 1 has: roadside units (20, 30); and mobile communication units (10-1 to 10-4) which communicate with the roadside unit by using one of a plurality of communication channels. The mobile communication unit obtains, for each communication channel, a reception condition measurement representing the reception condition of a radio signal received from the roadside unit, and reports information of the candidate channel as a candidate of a reception channel which is determined on the basis of the reception state measurement of each communication channel and receives a radio signal outputted from the roadside unit to the roadside unit. On the other hand, the roadside unit assigns the receiving channel by selecting it from among the candidate channels, and reports the receiving channel to the mobile communication unit.
