PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the yield of articles to be sorted in sorting of articles by using an inclined vibrating plate 36. SOLUTION: The articles to be sorted in which a plurality of articles different in specific gravity are mixed, are supplied onto the inclined vibrating plate 36; articles having high specific gravity in the articles to be sorted are sent to the upper end side of the incline vibrating plate 36 by the vibration thereof and articles having low specific gravity are sent to the lower end side thereof; a flow of the articles going toward the upper end side of the inclined vibrating plate 36 is retained in an upper end part of the inclined vibrating plate to return the articles having low specific gravity, which are sent to the upper end side thereof together with the articles having high specific gravity, to the lower end side thereof.
