PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce inputting errors of a capital letter and a small letter of alphabets. SOLUTION: A character input device is provided with: an operation display means for displaying a software keyboard and receiving input of a character if a character input button of the software keyboard is operated; and an operation display control unit for, if the software keyboard is in an alphabet input mode and a predetermined character input button of the software keyboard is depressed in a modification mode, performing conversion of a capital letter/small letter of a character corresponding to the character input button in an input character display area displayed by the operation display means.
