PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a route search device capable of suppressing search for a route which is not optimal, such as a wastefully detour route, when re-searching for a route, after setting a route to a destination. SOLUTION: When traffic information including a traffic phenomenon and positional information showing its position is stored, and a route is set, a control device 3 specifies a traffic phenomenon on the route (S10-S11). Then, when there is a traffic phenomenon, on a route other than the routes in map data on the lowermost layer in the periphery of a starting place and a destination, map data (target data) on the lowermost layer including a position where the traffic phenomenon is generated are specified (S12-S15). Furthermore, a route is re-searched for, based on the map data having a hierarchical structure from the present place (or the destination) to the inside of the target data, and the route is re-searched for, based on the map data having the hierarchical structure from the inside of the target data to the destination (or the present place), to thereby generate the route by each research result (S16, S17).
