<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing an N-protected amino acid, wherein the number of steps, the amounts of organic solvents used and the kind of organic solvents used are reduced compared to those in conventional extraction-crystallization methods. <P>SOLUTION: The method comprises conducting a reaction of introducing a protective group into an amino group in an amino acid under an alkaline condition so as to prepare the N-protected amino acid and subsequently obtaining the resulting N-protected amino acid as a crystal without undergoing any extraction step or concentration step. By adding a water-soluble organic solvent and optionally water to a reaction liquid (alkaline) containing the N-protected amino acid and subsequently neutralizing the same with an acid, a good crystal can be obtained without requiring any extraction, concentration or recrystallization step during the steps of production of the N-protected amino acid to achievement of the crystal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
