PURPOSE: A broadcasting receiver and a method for displaying subtitle are provided to control a subtitle size by the volume level of the audio signal. CONSTITUTION: An audio output unit(13) amplifies and outputs the audio data. An audio output level of the outputted audio data is measured. According to the audio output level, a control unit(21) controls the font size of the subtitle. An OSD(On Screen Display) generating unit(34) generates and outputs the font size of the subtitle according to the audio output level.
