[Also in Division H2] An electric terminal or lead-in conductor for a container for corrosive fluids has the component members hermetically sealed together by copper brazing. As shown the central conductor comprises a stainless steel sleeve 4 surrounding a soft inner upper wire 3, which is insulated from a tubular stainless steel flange member 1 which may be welded, brazed or suitably gasketed into the wall of the container, by a ceramic annulus 2 which is metallized by layers of titanium, platinum and stainless steel 6 to enable it to be brazed between the central conductor and to the flange member 1; the effect of the stainless steel which is corrosion resistant being to protect the other metals from flourine attack. |
