PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep the center pillar from greatly entering into the interior of a vehicle body, when, due to a side impact to a vehicle, an impact force is applied to the center pillar of the vehicle body from outside. SOLUTION: A vehicle body side structure of a vehicle comprises: roof side rails 11 supported at the top end of the center pillar 9; a roof reinforcing panel 35 installed on the right and left roof side rails 11; and a gusset panel 40 whose one end 38 is connected to the top end of the center pillar 9 and/or roof side rails 11 while the other end 39 is connected to the roof reinforcing panel 35 by way of at least front and rear connections 42, 43. When the vehicle body 2 seen in a plane is assumed to have an imaginary straight line 47 set that passes through the front and rear connections 42, 43, the imaginary straight line 47 is arranged to be inclined with respect to the cross direction of the vehicle body 2, while other connection 44 that links the roof reinforcing panel 35 and the other end 39 of the gusset panel 40 is arranged not to be present the outward side of the vehicle body 2 from the imaginary straight line 47.
