PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein visibility falls off about cutout characters except for a white cutout character. SOLUTION: It is determined whether a RGB value for image data (character part background) is "255". When the image data is character image data composed of a background part of a first color and a character part of a second color different from the first color, saturation St of the character part is compared with saturation Sb of the background part. Then, it is determined whether Sb>St is met to determine the necessity of bold letter processing.
