<p>Provided is a projection type display device that can suppress the deterioration of image quality even if a light source has a defect. A projection type display device is provided with optical modulation elements (12a, 12b, 12c), light sources (10a, 10b, 10c) that emit light from light emitting units (11a, 11b, 11c), and illumination optical systems including light condensing optical systems (14a, 14b, 14c), and vibrators (16). The optical modulation elements have optical modulation surfaces (13a, 13b, 13c) for modulating incident light in accordance with image information. The light condensing optical systems condense the light from the light sources to form images on the optical modulation surfaces. The vibrators (16) vibrate components composing the illumination optical systems to move areas on the modulation surfaces to which the light is irradiated from the illumination optical systems.</p> |
