<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrosurgical instrument that can be controlled at hand and in sight by the user. <P>SOLUTION: The electrosurgical instrument for providing ionized inert gas to a surgical site comprises a frame having a proximal end and a distal end, the distal end having a port for emitting ionized gas, a receptacle for seating a cylinder 100 contains pressurized inert gas therein, an active electrode 350 located adjacent the distal end of the frame, the electrode being connected to a source of electrosurgical energy, and at least one actuator 31 for actuating the flow of pressurized inert gas from the cylinder to the vicinity of the active electrode, and for actuating the delivery of electrosurgical energy from the source to the active electrode for ionizing the pressurized inert gas for use at the surgical site. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
