<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup apparatus which achieves phase difference AF based on image signals from pixels for phase difference detection arranged in a solid-state image pickup element and effectively utilizes the pixels for phase difference detection for an image in main imaging to achieve taking a wide dynamic range image and taking a high-resolution image. <P>SOLUTION: A CCD configured to independently read out images of a surface A and a surface B of the CCD from the pixels constituting the surface A and the surface B, and in particular, the CCD configured such that the pixels for phase difference detection are included in the pixels constituting the surface B is used. In the phase difference AF, the images of the surface B are read out (step S12), and the phase difference AF is performed based on the image signals corresponding to the pixels for phase difference detection (step S14). The images of the surfaces A and B are each read out during the main imaging after the phase difference AF, to perform image processing for generating the wide dynamic range image and the high-resolution image based on the read-out images of the surfaces A and B (steps S20 to S24). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
