PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a loss of irradiation energy by removing scattering materials generated by the irradiation of a laser beam from on the upper part of an irradiation path of the laser beam in a laser fixing device which irradiates a recording medium holding an unfixed toner image with the laser beam to fix the toner image. SOLUTION: An airflow generating unit 24 includes a blower device 25 and a suction device 26 and generates an airflow 27 blown from an air supply opening 25c and reaching a suction opening 26c. The airflow is moved from the upstream side of a transport direction of a recording sheet P toward the downstream side and has speed which is set so that a component of the speed for the transport direction of the recording sheet P is higher than the transport speed of the recording sheet P in an irradiation position 23a of the laser beams to the recording sheet. A glass plate 28 facing the transported recording sheet P to cover almost the whole of the recording sheet in a breadth direction is disposed between a laser beam generating device 22 and the recording sheet P to form the stable airflow between the glass plate and the recording sheet.
