PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope for observing a plurality of visual fields without deteriorating resolution. SOLUTION: The endoscope has at the distal end a visual field switching mechanism for switching the visual fields for observation. The visual field switching mechanism includes an optical element to be a transmission state or a reflection state. The state of the optical element is changed, thereby to switch a first optical path for forming a first visual field image and a second optical path for forming a second visual field image.
