PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator having an operating section improved in operability and cleaning performance. SOLUTION: This refrigerator is equipped with: a door front plate of the refrigerator having translucency; an operating section disposed on a front face of the door front plate; a detecting section disposed in a state of being kept into contact with or close to a rear part of the operating section and a rear face of the door front plate to detect the change of an electrostatic capacity; a display section for displaying a result of the operation of the operating section; a lighting means for lighting the display section from behind; and a control section for controlling the lighting means on the basis of a detection value of the detecting section.
