Fibrous material supplied to a duct 1 accumulates in the curved lower section 1a thereof, and a predetermined length of the accumulated plug of material is fed to a baling chamber 2 by means of feeder claws 9. The feeder claws 9 are pivotally mounted on a rotary disc 11 and are driven by a crank 12 and connecting rod 13 so as to trace out the path shown in dotted lines. Photo-electric beams 15, 18 start the feeder when the accumulated material reaches a certain height and stop it when a predetermined lower level is reached. A counter device (21) stops the feeder drive after a predetermined number of feeder strokes irrespective of whether the beam 18 is still intercepted. |
