PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the airtightness and reliability of an organic EL display, etc. while preventing the thermal deteriorations of active elements, etc. by originating a sealing material having good light absorption characteristics and good thermal stability. SOLUTION: The sealing material includes 70-99.9 vol.% of the total amount of glass powder and fireproof filler powder and furthermore 0.1-20 vol.% of transition metal oxide powder in the sealing material containing the glass powder and fireproof filler powder.
