The enclosed positive displacement mechanism (10; 110; 210; 310) for fluid machines comprises: a body (12, 312) defining a cylindrical cavity (20) with an inlet (22; 122) and an outlet (24; 124); a rotor (14, 314) mounted in said body (12, 312) so as to be rotatable about a main axis (X - X); an orbiting piston (16) that is located in the cavity (20), is rotatable about an eccentric secondary axis (Y - Y) and is arranged to orbit around the main axis (X - X) and to roll on the internal side surface of the cavity (20); and a vane (18) that is located in the cavity (20), is slidable in the piston (16) and is mounted in the body (12, 312) between at least one inlet (22; 122) and at least one outlet (24; 124) so as to be able to oscillate. The orbiting piston (16) and the vane (18) divide in cyclic manner the cavity (20) into at least a first and a second chamber (54, 56) with variable volume, which are mutually complementary and communicate with the inlet (22, 122) and the outlet (24, 124), respectively. During at least a portion of its oscillation, the vane (18) passes through the piston (16) and is in contact with the side surface of the cavity (20), thereby separating the chambers (54, 56) in a fluid-tight manner. |
