PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a media file restoration method capable of reproducibly restoring a media file where an error is produced during preparation. SOLUTION: MDAT data are analyzed to generate media size data indicating the size of media data, damages caused in information which can be derived from the size of the media data of basic information stored in an MOOV are restored by using media size data, and an MP4 file is prepared from the MDAT data and the restored MOOV data.
