PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a top toy, easily disassembled by anyone, also surely reassembled, and obtaining various visual effects even with a single top. SOLUTION: A rotary plate 2 is held between an upper connector 10 and a lower connector 11 of a connecting mechanism 9. The rotary plate 2 includes an intermediate plate 7 to which a visual effect generating part 8 (e.g. a rotating pattern) is attached. A plurality of intermediate plates 7 having the visual effect generating parts 8 of various specifications are alternatively used. An engagement projecting part 22 of the upper connector 10 is fitted to an engagement recessed part 31 of the lower connector 11 to regulate the relative rotation of the upper connector 10 and the lower connector 11. The fitting state of the engagement projecting part 22 and the engagement recessed part 31 is maintained by magnetic attraction between first and second permanent magnets 33, 34 provided on the engagement projecting part 22 and the engagement recessed part 31.
