PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester monofilament little in defects such as fibrils and having a high strength and excellent bending fatigue property, and to provide a fiber structure comprising the same. SOLUTION: The polyester monofilament comprising a polyester contains laminar nanoparticles which comprise a divalent metal and a phosphorous compound and have a one-side length of 5-100 nm and an interlaminar distance of 1 to 5 nm. The divalent metal is preferably at least one metal element selected from the group consisting of groups 3 to 12 metal elements in the 4 and 5 periods of the periodic table and Mg group, and the phosphorous compound is preferably a phenylphosphoric acid derivative. The main repeating unit in the polyester constituting the monofilaments is preferably selected from the group consisting of ethylene terephthalate, ethylene 2,6-naphthalate, trimethylene terephthalate, trimethylene 2,6-naphthalate, butylene terephthalate, and butylene 2,6-naphthalate, and the fiber diameter of the monofilament is preferably 0.01-2 mm.
