In a sound output terminal device (100), a buffer control unit (122) adjusts a buffer size of a jitter-buffer (128) in response to a sound output mode set commanded to a command reception unit (120). When the command reception unit (120) receives a set command for the sound output mode requesting a low-delay of sound output, the buffer control unit (122) reduces the buffer size of the jitter-buffer (128). Also, the buffer control unit (122) controls the time when a media buffer transmits a sound packet to the jitter-buffer (128), in response to the set commanded sound output mode.
