Substituted guanidines in cardiac treatment

Acid addition salts of N-p-methylbenzyl-N'-N"-dimethylguanidine or of N-p-methoxybenzyl-N'-N=-dimethlguanidine are useful for the treatment of fibrillation of the auricles and ventricles of the heart. The prepared salts are chlorides, sulphates and sulphonates such as p-toluene sulphonate. They may be prepared by reacting guanidine with a benzyl- or methyl-containing compound e.g. sulphonate.
