The relatively firm internal lining of the ski boot is used to accommodate the different forms of the boot wearer's foot and is made of several layers with the layer in direct contact with the foot being softer than the other layers. The lining has a wall with zones of material which is of different stiffness and which is only slightly deformable. These zones are made from deformable foam plastics material and the foot is in contact with a flexible layer. The zone is made of a flexible foam plastic which is softer than that in the zone and arranged where the foot bones or nerves are not to be subjected to pressure. Fibres are embedded into the foam plastics to increase the compressive and tensile strength of the material and hence the form stability. |
