PURPOSE: A digital photographing device and a control method thereof are provided to set a set a touch protective area to a touch screen, thereby preventing malfunction of a touch by a grip of a user. CONSTITUTION: A touch by a user in inputted in a touch area(20_1). An icon corresponding to the touch location is executed in a touch area. In a touch protective area(20_2), a touch is inactivated if the touch by a user is sensed. By selection of a user, the touch protective area is activated on a touch screen in a photographing mode. To enable a user to recognize a touch protective area, the activated touch protective area is displayed.
