PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a metallic mold which is useful for producing an antiglare film having a high glare proof function and has a minute uneven shape on the surface and to provide a method for producing the antiglare film. SOLUTION: The method for producing the metallic mold comprises a plating process for applying copper plating or nickel plating to a surface of a base material for the metallic mold, a mirror finishing process for machining and/or polishing the surface subjected to copper plating or nickel plating 3 at the plating process to obtain a mirror surface with a surface roughness of≤0.1μm, a minute recess forming process for forming a plurality of minute recesses 18 by machining the surface subjected to the mirror finishing and a protective film forming process for forming a protective film 19 on the surface where the minute recesses 18 are formed. In the method for producing the metallic mold, machining depth and a mean most adjoining distance between minute recesses machined at the machining in the minute recess forming process satisfy specific conditions.
