PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting position indicator and a method thereof for indicating a more accurate and easily understandable rough indication for a cutting position to a worker who conducts article cutting work by hand. SOLUTION: In order to cut out a segment of a prescribed cut-out weight by cutting one lump of article, in a direction substantially orthogonal to its length direction, the position of a cutting line is determined based on the total weight of the article and its specific gravity distribution, and the position of the cutting line is indicated by displaying information on a screen, the information including a scale obtained by equally dividing the total length of the article by the power of two, a reference scale adjoining one side of the cutting line, and the ratio of the length between the reference scale and the cutting line to one division of the scale.
