Finish forming operation on soft ceramic shapes with protrusion from their surface such as handles etc. is effected by tooling which consists of two forming tools. These approach the plate shaped vertical blank protrusion from either side, enclose it, thus shaping it whilst simultaneously parting off excess material. Pref. the two halves of the tool are mounted on swivel arms mounted on vertical shafts. The excess material is removed after parting off either by a suitable placed air blast nozzle or by the two fold action of one of the tools, which consists of two portions, one of shaping and the other for ejecting excess material.
