PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method, for designating a new online analytical processing (OLAP) cube from an OLAP cube template. SOLUTION: This OLAP cube designation system includes: an OLAP cube template determination module determining the OLAP cube template and taking out a corresponding template metadata file; a metadata copy module copying the template metadata file to create a base metadata file; and an executable option generation module generating and presenting executable options for changing the base metadata file to define the new OLAP cube. The OLAP cube designation system also includes a metadata reception module receiving input indicating the change to base metadata via a user interface based on the presented executable options and storing the changed base metadata as a metadata file defining the new OLAP cube.
