<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device and an image forming apparatus, preventing a fixing failure or the like even when the warm-up time and the first print time are short and with high-speed operation of the device, and stably reducing disadvantage such as abrasion due to sliding contact between a fixing belt and a metal member even after long time use. <P>SOLUTION: A low-viscosity lubricant is interposed between the fixing belt 21 and the metal member 22 at the central part M in the width direction, and a high-viscosity lubricant is interposed between the fixing belt 21 and the metal member 22 at both ends N in the width direction.
