MBMS transmission is performed in which the resources can be effectively used without increasing the loads in mobile station apparatuses. A wireless communication system, which comprises a base station apparatus and mobile station apparatuses, provides MBMS (Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service). The base station apparatus transmits, to the mobile station apparatuses in charge of the base station, a message for counting the number of mobile station apparatuses requesting the MBMS. Each of those ones of the mobile station apparatuses which request the MBMS adds intra-cell position information of the mobile station apparatus to a response message responsive to the foregoing message and transmits, to the base station apparatus, the response message to which the intra-cell position information has been added.
