The invention relates to an isolated nucleotide sequence corresponding to an RNA sequence of the pepino mosaic virus, PepMV, involved in the regulation of gene expression. The invention also relates to a vector comprising this sequence, and a cell or a plant comprising said sequence or vector. The invention further relates to the use of, and method involving, any sequence or vector of the invention for detecting at least one plant of the genus Solanum resistant to the PepMV virus; or to the method for producing a functional or non-functional protein in the cell or the plant according to the invention, comprising cotransfection with a nucleotide sequence coding for a capsid protein (CP) of a potexvirus.
