PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically set a call volume or a call sound quality preliminarily associated with a relevant telephone number without requiring a button operation or the like when a telephone number of the opposite party is automatically obtained at the time of incoming call in response to a caller number notification service. SOLUTION: A telephone system which obtains a telephone number of a caller from a line at the time of an incoming a call, has: a setting means setting a call volume and/or a call sound quality; a storing means associating the call volume and/or call sound quality set by the setting means with the telephone number to be stored; and an automatic setting means automatically setting the call volume or the call sound quality associated with the telephone number from the line by referring to the storing means when the telephone number is obtained from the line at the time of incoming call. When it is determined that the telephone number obtained from the line is a telephone number of a mobile communication device, a call volume and/or a call sound quality at the start of a call is set to a default call volume and/or call sound quality preliminarily set to the system.
