HIGH-VOLTAGE DISCHARGE LAMP LIGHTING APPARATUS AND PROJECTOR

PURPOSE: A high voltage discharge lamp lighting device and a projector are provided to prevent a flicker by stabilizing an arc bright point of a discharge lamp. CONSTITUTION: A high voltage discharge lamp is switched between a normal power lighting mode and a low power lighting mode. The high voltage discharge lamp is driven with an alternating current(IH) in which a first polarity and a second polarity of a normal power lighting frequency of 100 Hz to 5KHz alternatively repeat in the normal power lighting mode. The high voltage discharge lamp is driven with an alternating current(IL) below 50% of the rated power of the normal power lighting mode in the low power lighting mode. The alternating current is comprised of a first time unit and a second time unit.
