PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a steel wire for obtaining a steel wire of desired high strength and high ductility by executing drawing work of a high-carbon steel wire with much carbon content without any structural collapse or degradation of ductility, and the steel wire obtained thereby. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the steel wire, the wet-type drawing work is executed to a steel wire with the carbon content of 0.70-1.10 mass% and having a pearlite structure therein after the final heat treatment. The wet-type drawing work is carried out twice, and the intermediate heat treatment is carried out after the first wet-type drawing work and before the second one. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
