[Object] A particular object is to provide a magnetic detecting device including a first and a second magnetoresistive element having interlayer coupling magnetic fields having opposite polarities and having a small difference in TCR from each other, and a method for manufacturing the same in which the fixed resistors connected to the respective magnetoresistive elements in series are formed in the same process step. [Solving Means] The first magnetoresistive element 23 and the second magnetoresistive element 27 have the same layer structure except for the thicknesses of the nonmagnetic conductive layers 61 and 64. The first magnetoresistive element 23 and the second magnetoresistive element 27 have respective nonmagnetic conductive layers 61 and 64 having different thicknesses. Thus, the first magnetoresistive element 23 has a positive first interlayer coupling magnetic field Hin 1, and the second magnetoresistive element 27 has a negative second interlayer coupling magnetic field Hin 2. The first fixed resistor 24 and the second fixed resistor 28 have the same layer structure.
