摘要 <p>The invention provides a projector for projecting an image, having a illumination modulator (3) charged with light and having multiple illumination pixels disposed in column and lines, said pixels able to be actuated independent of each other in order to modulate the intensity of the light m a pixel-individual manner, a projection lens (4) connected downstream of the illumination modulator (3), said lens projecting the light being modulated in a pixel-individual manner onto an image modulator (5) having multiple image pixels which are disposed in columns and lines and which can be actuated independently of each other in order to generate the image to be projected such that each illumination pixel is associated with at least one image pixel, and a controller (7) to which image data (BD) of the image to be generated is fed and which generates illumination control data for the illumination modulator (3) and applies the illumination control data for the modulation of the light and generates image control data for the image modulator (5) and applies the saine for the image generation. The illumination pixels can be switched to a first state in which the light coming from the illumination pixel is projected onto the at least one associated image pixel, and to a second state in which no light is to be projected from the illumination pixel onto the at least one associated image pixel, and the image pixels can be switched to a first state in which the light coming from the image pixel is utilized for the image generation, and to a second state in which no light from the image pixel is utilized for image generation, whe rein the illumination control data has either an on-value m order to illuminate the associated image pixels of the image modulator for the image generation utilizing the light coming from said illumination pixel, or an off-value in order to minimize the intensity of the light coming from said illumination pixel and projected onto the associated image pixels for each illumination pixel. The il lumination control data are generated such that they have an on-value for each illumination pixel that is associated with at least one image pixel intended to represent a brightness value in the image that exceeds.</p>
