Rubber strips with lengthwise edges in the form of hollow channels are produced by clamping the rubber strip along a line running at a distance from the lengthwise edges between two clamping and guiding rails, which can be pressed together, so that the rubber is elastically deformed and the material of the lengthwise edges extending beyond the rails is formed into a roll, and cutting away the extending material by a level cut, by means of a knife extending from the rails in the lengthwise direction of the rubber strip.
