PURPOSE: A composition containing saponin-containing extract and Scutellariae baicalensis extract is provided to prevent and treat coccidiosis of livestock and poultry. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing or treating coccidiosis of livestock and poultry contains saponin-containing extract as an active ingredient. The composition further contains methanol, ethanol, water, or mixture solvent extract of Scutellariae baicalensis as an active ingredient. A method for preparing the saponin-containing extract comprises: a step of adding alcohol to plants and heating; a step of compressing methanol or ethanol extract; a step of adding water to separate into water soluble fraction and non-water soluble fraction; a step of adding butanol to the water soluble fraction and shaking; and a step of concentrating butanol layer to obtain a crude saponin.
