PURPOSE: A method for producing high purity cobalt sulfate is provided to remove even trace amount of impurities by organically linking processes for removing impurities and to ensure high cobalt recovery rate. CONSTITUTION: A method for producing high purity cobalt sulfate comprises the steps of: (a) forming a solution by reacting cobalt oxidized ore with sulfuric acid and sulfur dioxide, and filtering the solution to separate filtrate liquid and insoluble residue; (b-1) mixing the filtrate liquid with an organic solvent and extracting copper; (b-2) adding an oxidant to the solution to separate iron and manganese, adding sodium fluoride to separate magnesium and calcium, and contacting the residual solution with organic solvent to extract and remove one impurity selected from the group consisting of sodium, copper, manganese, magnesium, and zinc; (c) contacting the solution with the organic solvent to selectively extract cobalt ions; (d) removing impurities with at least one method selected from the group consisting of washing, scrubbing, demounting, and extraction; and (e) removing the organic solvent from the solution and drying it to obtain cobalt sulfate.
