The method involves constituting value channels (14) regrouping event values along a criterion, where the channels are arranged according to an order corresponding to an appearance order of occurrence of the value in a structured document. A portion of the channels is re-arranged according to another order based on information, where the information represents memory space required for storage of values of the channels. The channels are coded into coded stream according to the latter order. Estimated memory occupation value is calculated for a set of orders of the value channels.
