PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone control unit capable of surely conveying a message to a call-holding partner side, even if a call-hold partner side leaves a message, while the call is held and call can be hung up. SOLUTION: The telephone control unit includes a holding means for holding an extension telephone set, a voice guidance sending means for sending a predetermined voice guidance to a communicating partner's telephone set, and a partner's voice recording means for recording the partner's voice from the communicating partner's telephone set. The telephone control unit sends to the partner's telephone set a voice guidance, stating to the effect that a message can be recorded, when a predetermined command from the partner's telephone set is received, while the extension telephone set is held; records the voice from the partner's telephone set by the partner's voice recording means; and further, reproduces the voice from the partner's telephone set stored in the partner's voice recording means, if the extension telephone set carries out a holding release operation.
