PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of decomposing an organic halogen compound which is more efficient than a conventional one by using an enzyme reaction; and to provide equipment used for the method. SOLUTION: The method of decomposing an organic halogen compound is designed to carry out the dehalogenation reaction of the organic halogen compound by using a dehalogenation enzyme under microwave irradiation. Here, the organic halogen compound is preferably a halogen acid and the dehalogenation enzyme is preferably a halogen acid dehalogenation enzyme.
