PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an O/W type sunscreen cosmetic which has excellent UV-A absorption power, is excellent in storage stability, is easily scooped with a finger, is not sticky, does not produce lumps, satisfactorily breaks at the time of coating, and has good skin compatibility. SOLUTION: The O/W type sunscreen cosmetic includes the following components (A) to (D): (A) a polyacrylamide and/or a sodium acrylate/acryloyl dimethyltaurine copolymer, (B) an ultraviolet absorber which presents a solid form or a paste form at 20°C and has the maximum absorption wavelength in a UV-A region, (C) a thickening polymer containing a carboxyl group excluding the component (A), and (D) glycyrrhizinic acid or its derivative and/or ascorbic acid or its derivative.
