Disclosed is a magnetic recording/reproducing device which is provided with: a magnetic recording medium; a magnetic recording head, which is provided with a main magnetic pole, a first magnetic layer (60), a second magnetic layer (40), a third magnetic layer (20), a first intermediate layer (50) provided between the first magnetic layer (60) and the second magnetic layer (40), and a second intermediate layer (30) provided between the second magnetic layer (40) and the third magnetic layer (20); and a signal processing section, which writes and reads signals on and from the magnetic recording medium using a magnetic recording head. The first magnetic layer (60) contains a TM alloy, the second magnetic layer (40) contains a TM alloy or a RE-TM alloy, and the third magnetic layer (20) contains a RE-TM alloy.
