PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet carrying device and an image forming device capable of preventing the occurrence of a skew when correcting lateral dislocation of a sheet. SOLUTION: After controlling a skew correcting roller 203 so as to correct the skew of the sheet based on a skew quantity of the tip of the sheet detected by skew detecting sensors 204a and 204b, lateral shift correcting roller pairs 305 are controlled for correcting positional dislocation in the width direction of the sheet based on a positional dislocation quantity detected by a lateral registration detecting sensor 204c. After correcting the positional dislocation in the width direction of the sheet, a skew quantity of the rear end of the sheet is detected by the lateral registration detecting sensor 204c, and when correcting a skew of the next sheet by the detected skew quantity, the skew quantity of the tip of the sheet detected by the skew detecting sensors 204a and 204b is adjusted.
