PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a swash plate piston pump motor preventing oil from flowing from the side of the first oil passage of a piston and the side of the second oil passage of a shoe to the side of a cylinder when vacuum is produced in the cylinder of a cylinder block without causing the whirling phenomenon of a shoe pad. SOLUTION: This swash plate piston pump motor includes: the piston 5 stored in each cylinder 3a of the cylinder block 3; the shoe 6 connected to the end of each piston 5; and a swash plate 8 with which the shoe pad 6a of the shoe 6 is in sliding contact. The piston 5 is formed with the first oil passage 5b communicating with the cylinder 3a, and the shoe 6 is formed with the second oil passage 6c having an opening 6c1 communicating with the first oil passage 5b of the piston 5 and opposed to the swash plate 8. A check valve 9 is arranged in the first oil passage 5b of the piston 5 so that the oil is allowed to flow from the side of the cylinder 3a to the side of the first oil passage 5b and the oil is prevented from flowing from the side of the first oil passage 5b to the side of the cylinder 3a.
